SkinPen® Microneedling Treatment in Minneapolis

SkinPen® Microneedling Treatment in Minneapolis

Microneedling in Minneapolis, also known as collagen induction therapy, or CIT, is a highly effective, non-surgical, facial rejuvenation treatment designed to improve fine lines, acne scars, tone and texture, and pore size.

During the session, tiny sterilized needles create controlled micro-injuries by lightly puncturing the very outer layer of skin. These small injuries stimulate your body’s natural healing response, which enhances collagen and elastin growth, leading to smoother and youthful-looking skin.

How Microneedling Can Improve Your Skin Conditions?

Reduced Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Microneedling under eyes and around the face can greatly improve fine lines and wrinkles caused by aging or smoking, making the skin look firm and youthful.

Smaller Pores

Microneedling treatment can help decrease the size of large pores that are easily visible on the skin of the forehead, cheeks, and chin.

Improved Appearance of Acne and Burn Scars

If your main skin concern is acne, microneedling works for this as well. Acne scars around the face, neck, back, and chest can be smoothed and improved with microneedling. More sessions might be necessary to reduce scarring for deeper burn and acne scarring.

Less Noticeable Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, whether from growing or weight changes, can be very frustrating. Microneedling stretch marks is a common method for reducing and diminishing the appearance of stretch marks through increased collagen production.

Smoother Skin Texture

Through tiny micro injuries, microneedling can help to smooth the texture of aged, scarred, and weathered skin, using only the body’s natural healing process and growth factor production. Microneedling helps to bring a lustrous glow back to dull skin and leaves behind healthier skin.

Even Skin Tone and Reduced Sunspots

Aging and hyperpigmentation are both common culprits of uneven skin tone on the face and body. Microneedling can help smooth out skin tone, as well as unwanted sunspots, so skin looks more even.

Treat Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin condition causing visible red patches and blood vessels on the face. Often caused by a hastened breakdown of collagen, the ruddiness and thinning of the skin can be improved with microneedling. After a microneedling procedure, skin will look less inflamed and irritated and will produce more collagen.

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling is one of the most effective laser treatments on the market as it creates thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s natural wound-healing process while minimizing cellular damage. This process rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue and surface imperfections while keeping the structure of the skin intact. Microneedling has proven to be effective for men and women of all skin tones and skin types.

While most people get microneedling treatments on their face, it is still possible to get this skin needling treatment in other areas of the body including your legs, neck, back, or any areas where you’ve experienced aging or damaged skin. These tiny wounds are helpful for improving the deeper layers of your skin by improving elastin production.

Benefits of Microneedling

If you’re a skincare professional, you know the countless benefits of microneedling treatments. Here are only some of them:

  • Microneedling procedures can dramatically increase the efficacy of your skincare products as the treatment works to create micro channels in your skin
  • The treatment area is expansive as it is safe to use on all areas of the body
  • This is an effective treatment for those with sensitive skin as the needles are made from medical-grade stainless steel that doesn’t have any nickel, meaning the chances of having an allergic reaction are greatly minimized
  • Patients love to use microneedling to achieve their desired results as it is customizable to target different areas such as the outermost layer of the skin in addition to the deeper layers. The speed is customizable as well
  • Unlike other facial rejuvenation procedures that use light, heat, or lasers, microneedling treatments can achieve optimal results without the risk of skin discoloration

How many treatments will I need?

The necessary number of treatment sessions to see results differs with age and skin condition. Some people might only need 1 or 2 sessions, while someone with more fine lines or greater acne scarring could need between 3 and 6 sessions. Based on their custom treatment plan developed with their Advanced Practice Esthetician, most patients opt for a series of sessions after which they may schedule a follow-up session or sessions. Microneedling 2-4 times annually is a great way to maintain your results and to continue to stimulate collagen and combat the skin-thinning appearance that comes with aging.

How Long Does the Microneedling Procedure Last?

The length of the microneedling procedure depends on the amount of skin being treated. Normally, the session is about 1 hour and 30 minutes long, including the numbing preparation, and our team at Metropolitan Skin Clinic works efficiently and safely. Make sure to take advantage of our free consultation beforehand.

Frequently Asked Questions About Microneedling

Is microneedling painful?

Microneedling is not painful because we apply a powerful numbing cream before the session. Also, the Skinpen device is so quick and the needles so tiny that most people describe it as more of a mild “prickling” or “tingling” sensation. At the Metropolitan, our skilled staff has the experience and expertise to make the process as comfortable as possible.

What are microneedling pre-treatment instructions?

Before the microneedling treatment, use a gentle, unscented facial cleanser to wash the skin. Do not put on makeup before the treatment.

What are microneedling post-treatment instructions?

After the microneedling session, avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and any other activities that could open the pores for 48 hours. Do not use makeup for 24-48 hours after the treatment; sleep with a clean pillowcase.
