Kybella® Procedure Details

We Are Proud to Be Among the Best Practices in the Minneapolis Area to Offer Kybella® Injections

As we get older, it’s only natural for our bodies to change. Many people experience the appearance of fat and loose skin underneath the chin area, resulting in the appearance of a double chin. For many, no amount of dieting or exercising can reduce this double chin appearance. If you feel bothered by fat underneath your chin, consider Kybella® as an option.

If you’ve never heard of Kybella®, you might be wondering what it is. It is a series of treatments that only take 15-20 minutes per appointment. It works by targeting the fat cells in your chin area and destroying them, resulting in a more defined profile.

Meet Our Expert Kybella® Injectors

Even though Kybella® is a safe and FDA-approved procedure, it shouldn’t be performed by anyone. It’s important to choose an experienced injector for this procedure so you know that you are receiving the best care throughout the process. The last thing you want is to leave such an important procedure in the hands of an inexperienced injector.

Regardless of the injector that performs your Kybella injections, rest assured that you are in great hands! Each professional at the Metropolitan Skin Clinic is highly trained and experienced, providing you with a highly personalized experience from start to finish.

How Is the Kybella® Procedure Performed?

This treatment is non-surgical and performed in our office. It can be customized to fit the specific needs and aesthetic goals of each patient. Your provider will carefully inject Kybella into the targeted fat areas beneath your chin. To keep discomfort to a minimum, we also use numbing agents such as cream or through a device that blows cold air onto the area. The entire procedure can be completed in 20 minutes or less depending on how many injections you need.

Each treatment is completed at least one month apart, and many patients need more than one treatment to achieve their desired outcomes. You shouldn’t need more than six sessions to meet your aesthetic goals. As soon as your desired results are achieved, you likely won’t need additional treatments. It’s common to see bruising and swelling after the injections which will subside over time.

What Are the Benefits of Kybella® Injections?

There are many advantages of opting for Kybella over other methods of removing fat from underneath the chin.

  • It is an FDA-approved prescription drug which means it is one of the safest and most effective ways to remove under-chin fat
  • There is no anesthesia required and it can be performed from the comfort of our office
  • The results are gradual which allows patients to control the degree of fat reduction
  • There aren’t any activity restrictions on the days after treatment

How Long Does Kybella® Last and How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Although every patient is different, you shouldn’t need more than six different treatments. We typically start by recommending 3-4 sessions to see how your body reacts, waiting at least one month between sessions so you can see what your results will be like. Most patients begin to see noticeable results after the second session.

How Long Does a Kybella® Treatment Take?

Each session takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to complete. This allows our team enough time to properly cleanse the area and talk you through any hesitations or questions. We recommend setting an hour aside for each appointment to be safe.

How Much Does Kybella® Cost in Minneapolis?

The cost of Kybella depends on many different factors including the extensiveness of the procedure and how many sessions you’ll need. Although every patient is unique, it costs anywhere between $1,000 and $2,400 per treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Kybella®

How does recovery from Kybella® go?

During Kybella recovery, patients usually experience about 10 minutes of a burning sensation. This subsides quickly although patients report a full feeling in the area for the following several days. You’ll still be able to return to school or work once your procedure is over.

Is Kybella® used only for the chin?

Kybella® can technically be used on other small pockets of fat on the body but is most commonly used for the chin. Although Kybella® is permanent, many people opt for liposuction or plastic surgery in areas where Kybella® may be necessary for such a large quantity that it would be cost prohibitive.

Do Kybella® injections hurt?

Though Kybella® can be painful, at the Metropolitan, we try to make the injections as painless as possible. To help make you as comfortable as possible, we will numb the areas before the treatment starts with a topical anesthetic, and lidocaine is added to the Kybella® before it is injected.

Is treatment with Kybella® right for me?

Everyone is unique, and there are certain criteria that make people better candidates for Kybella® treatment. Those with a moderate amount of fat in the area and firm, elastic skin are the best candidates. Consultations for Kybella® are always free at the Metropolitan.
