How is the Botox® cosmetic procedure performed?
Botox® cosmetic injections are seen as relatively painless and fast. Before your injector begins, he or she will prepare your skin by sanitizing it. Depending on the treatment areas, your injector will then ask you to make different expressions such as smiling or frowning so they can see facial muscles to determine where to place each injection. In some cases, a cold compress is used following the injections to help minimize swelling, bruising, or overall skin discomfort.
What are the benefits of Botox® cosmetic treatments?
There are many benefits to getting Botox® cosmetic injections for wrinkle reduction regularly. Both men and women regardless of their age or skin type, who want to refresh their appearance will experience the following upsides:
- A significant and noticeable reduction in creases and fine lines in the treatment area.
- It is an in-office procedure that only takes about 15 minutes and has minimal side effects.
- Patients can opt to get this procedure over a lunch break.
- A non-surgical and non-invasive approach to facial rejuvenation that doesn’t require excessive recovery time.
During your consultation, your injector will determine if you’re a good candidate for Botox® cosmetic treatments. If so, you will get a personalized treatment plan tailored to you.
How long does Botox® last and how many treatments will I need?
Botox® cosmetic procedures are not permanent. It can last three to four months after the treatment. Botox® takes a full 2 weeks to come into full effect. Your muscles are at their most relaxed state at weeks 2-6. At 8-10 weeks, muscle activity and the movement slowly begins to return. By weeks 12-14, you will be due for another treatment.
Consistent treatments every 3-4 months keep you looking fresh and youthful and ensure optimal softening of fine lines and wrinkles while preventing the onset of deep folds over time.
How long does the Botox® cosmetic treatment take?
The procedure itself only takes 30-60 minutes to complete, including the time it takes for your consultation. Most patients experience minimal downtime from Botox® cosmetic injections. Any swelling at the injection site usually subsides in under an hour although there might be slight bruising that lasts for a couple of days. After that, you can resume your normal activities.
